The Bonney Lake Panthers gave their senior softball players a day to remember on Friday afternoon, dominating the Spanaway Lake Sentinels 21-0 in a five-inning mercy-rule victory. It was Senior Day at the Panthers’ home field, and while the skies remained overcast, the energy was electric, with packed stands, decorated tables for each senior, and a celebration fitting for a special group of players.

The Panthers honored six seniors: Laina Baker, Kendell Thomas, Aspyn Evanson, Lauryn Lee, Maddi Peri, and Hallie Beers—athletes who have played pivotal roles in some of Bonney Lake's most successful seasons. The team entered the matchup with an 8-8 overall record and sitting second in the district, while Spanaway Lake came in still searching for their first win at 0-13.
Senior ace Aspyn Evanson took the mound and put on an absolute clinic in her final regular season home start. Evanson was dominant, striking out 11 Sentinels over five innings, allowing just one hit and no earned runs.
The Panthers’ offense came alive early and often. In the first inning, senior Kendell Thomas delivered a two-RBI single to open the scoring. Evanson helped herself with an RBI of her own, followed by Gabi Davis knocking in another to make it 4-0.

The second inning is where Bonney Lake blew the doors open. Following an Addison Hanel single, a costly Sentinel error cleared the bases and pushed the lead to 12-0. In the third, freshman Maddie Speir doubled to score Hallie Beers, and then Hanel capped the frame with a bases-clearing triple off the center field wall, part of a monster day where she went 3-for-4 with 4 runs scored and 5 RBIs.
By the end of the third, the Panthers were up 18-0 and didn’t take their foot off the gas. In the fourth, Hanel added another RBI single, and Liv Hochstedler closed the scoring with a two-run knock.

It was a fitting farewell performance for the senior class, as Bonney Lake flexed its offensive firepower and pitching prowess in front of a home crowd celebrating its veterans.
The Panthers now look ahead to their final few games of the regular season, including a road game in Olympia on Monday and another home matchup on Wednesday, May 1 against Yelm. With playoffs on the horizon, momentum is building—and Bonney Lake looks ready.
