Curtis Plays Spoiler, but Panthers Shine on Senior Day

The stage was set Friday in Bonney Lake as the Panthers honored their seniors with a packed crowd, lively energy, and a game full of big moments. Eli Hubbard, Trent Blake, Karsten Ingersoll, Brody Sexton, Ayden Liley, Keegan Parker, Eyain Guitierrez, Jayden Ortiz-Ruiz, Justice Scott, and Cade Kretzer took center stage, celebrated for their years of dedication to the program. And while Curtis ultimately spoiled the party with a 12-5 win, Senior Day was about more than the final score.
Gavin Jennings got the call on the mound, limiting Curtis to just one run in a tight first inning. The Panthers answered immediately. After a walk from Blake, Ingersoll — continuing his hot streak — roped an RBI single to even the score at 1-1.

In the second, Bonney Lake kept the momentum rolling. Hubbard doubled, then Evan Hellner launched a shot off the 340-foot sign in right field for an RBI double, putting the Panthers up 2-1. In the field, the Panthers flashed the leather too, as left fielder Ryan Orcutt made a heads-up double play to end a Curtis threat in the third.

Then came the moment the Panthers' faithful were waiting for. On an 0-1 pitch, Ingersoll crushed a ball to dead center — a no-doubt home run that sent the crowd into a frenzy and gave the Panthers a 3-1 lead. Teammates poured out of the dugout as Ingersoll rounded the bases, a fitting Senior Day memory.
Curtis, though, kept chipping away. They tied the game 3-3 in the fourth and took the lead for good in the fifth on a home run from Micah Houston. Another shot from Joe Giles in the sixth stretched the Vikings' advantage. Despite a gritty effort — including a heads-up run scored by Wyatt Vincent on a third-strike passed ball and an RBI single from Liley in the seventh — the Panthers couldn’t close the gap.
The final score didn’t define the day. Senior Day was about celebrating a group of players whose heart, hustle, and love for the game set the tone for Panthers baseball.
Bonney Lake wraps up their season against rival Sumner on Tuesday in Sumner. Let’s pack the stands and show our Panthers some love one more time!
