People from all of Bonney Lake came to see the spectacle that was the game against the Mount Tahoma T-Birds. Coming off of their season opening 3-0 sweep over Orting, players and crowds alike were ready to watch Bonney Lake bump, set, and spike their way to victory. With this gameplan in mind, the Panthers were ready for pure dominance, delivering a dish best served set ablaze.
Set One: A Statement Made
Right out of the gate, Taylin Beers, again off to a hot start, paved an early lead for the Panthers with an impressive 12 serves in a row behind the line. Rotating the roster around, coach Millan knew Marley Joseph was the right choice to bring in. Joseph proved that her sophomore status was more than welcome, owning the court with her skill to make it a swift 25-6 set.

Set Two: A Bump in the Road
After the first set, Joseph’s flame had only become brighter, marching her team forward with many hard hits and a flashy ace. Passing on the torch, Jada Shipp didn’t wait to take the stride and delivered a powerful spike, giving the Panthers a comfortable 14-7 lead. Throughout a long back and forth sequence, Shipp and Olivia Uhler became a wall at the net with countless kills to seal the second set at 25-16.
Set Three: Following Through
By the third set, the Panthers were dead-set on winning. Beers relit her flame with another unbelievable serving streak of 9 manifesting a 9-1 start. Although the set may have progressed, the Panthers were as tough as steel. Joseph added a spike and block to her resume and Kamryn Davisson joined the party with a sweet kill of her own. As the Panthers neared victory, Joanna Goodloe managed a clutch save and Beers closed the game out with two more tips.

The Next Steps
After the game, the team was ecstatic with the outcome. But with any sport, the steps in between games are just as crucial as the games themselves. “Two wins is already a good start and being able to reflect on how we perform and have specific things to train can show where we can grow to beat top teams in our district and hopefully at state” states coach Eva Millan.
The Bonney Lake Panthers continue to impress the big crowds that the High School brings in. People of all ages come to these games as a community ready for a game full of action. Leaving these games brings a sense of pride to each and every fan who attends. Be sure not to miss the next jam-packed game on Monday, September 22 at Bonney Lake High School.
Final: Bonney Lake 3, Mount Tahoma 0 (25-6, 25-16, 25-6).
