Another strong night for the Bonney Lake Panthers added to an already impressive season résumé.

Bonney Lake entered the matchup 17–2 overall and sitting in first place in the district, hosting the Spanaway Lake Sentinels, who arrived at 5–12 overall and fourth in district play. From the opening tip, the Panthers controlled the tempo in a game that mixed fast breaks, strong defense, and balanced scoring.

The first quarter featured a competitive back-and-forth start with both teams playing tight defense. Bonney Lake slowly built a rhythm as multiple players got involved offensively. The turning point came when Robert Mosley IV drained a pair of three-pointers to stretch the Panthers’ lead to 15–8. Spanaway Lake answered with a short run of its own, but Bonney Lake closed the quarter ahead 18–15.

The Panthers took over in the second.

Jace Andino opened the quarter with an open-look three, and Bonney Lake began to pour it on in transition. Easy fast-break buckets from Andino combined with outside shooting from Eli Davis sparked a surge that pushed the lead to 30–19. The Panthers were firing on all cylinders, forcing steals, capitalizing on rebounds, drawing fouls, and winning possessions on both ends. By halftime, Bonney Lake had extended its advantage to 37–24.

The crowd was also treated to a halftime performance from the Pantherettes, Bonney Lake’s decorated dance/drill team. The Pantherettes are an 11-time state champion program, best known for their success in the kick, military, and pom categories, and this year the team is preparing to take its routines to nationals in Florida.

The third quarter opened with quick tempo from both sides, but the Panthers never loosened their grip. Andino heated up, knocking down back-to-back shots including a three, as Bonney Lake kept the pressure on and stretched the lead to 51–39 heading into the fourth.
