The Bonney Lake Panthers hosted the Rogers Rams on a wet and spirited Thursday evening that perfectly embodied Pacific Northwest soccer. The weather forecast had promised only a brief half-hour of rain, but in true October fashion, it drizzled from start to finish. Still, the Panthers faithful filled the stands for Pink Out Night, showing their support for breast cancer awareness.

Coming into the match, both teams appeared evenly matched, Bonney Lake at 6–5 and Rogers at 6–4–1, and the first half reflected that balance. The Panthers came out firing right from the whistle, striking first in the 4th minute. It started with a setup from Abby Arneson, who sent a quick ball out left to Addison Kraft. Kraft took it in stride and crossed perfectly to Layla Davisson, who buried it in the corner of the net to give Bonney Lake an early 1–0 lead.
The Rams answered back in the 15th minute, tying the game at 1–1, and then struck again just before halftime. A pinpoint pass to the center slipped just above the hands of goalkeeper Ali Beningo, putting Rogers ahead 2–1 going into the break.

Halftime brought smiles and laughter to the drenched crowd as a young MRFC girls team took the field to scrimmage a group of “mascots”, older kids dressed as dinosaurs and other animals, keeping spirits high despite the rain.
When play resumed, Rogers stepped up their intensity. The Panthers, still playing with grit, capitalized in the 48th minute when Aly Thompson fired from 20 yards out into an open net after the Rams’ goalkeeper came off her line. The equalizer tied things at 2–2 and reignited the crowd.

But the Rams responded immediately. Just two minutes later, they retook the lead at 3–2, and in the 59th minute, they found the right corner of the net again to seal a 4–2 win.
The Panthers (6–6) have two more matches before postseason play, both on the road. They’ll travel to Olympia next Tuesday for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
