At The Bonney Lake Insider, we take pride in highlighting local businesses that are doing great work in our community. One of those is Lake Tapps Lawn Service, owned and operated by Zack Callon, a Bonney Lake resident who has built his company around family, faith, and community.

From Side Job to Full-Time Passion

In 2018, Callon started mowing lawns as a way to earn extra income after he and his wife welcomed their second child. At the time, he was commuting long hours to his job building furniture, and the extra work was meant to fill the gap. But before long, he realized that lawn care was more than just a paycheck—it was a passion.

With encouragement from his wife, Callon took the leap to go full time. Since then, Lake Tapps Lawn Service has grown steadily, thanks almost entirely to word-of-mouth referrals and community support.

“Neighbors here believed in me from the start, and that trust has allowed me to build not just a business, but relationships that make this work meaningful,” Callon said.

Serving Families in Bonney Lake

Callon chose to root his business in Bonney Lake because he sees how much pride local families take in their homes and yards. For him, that trust is meaningful.

“I believe God has blessed me with a skill to bring out the best in landscapes, and I’m grateful I get to share that with families here in Bonney Lake,” he said.

Whether it’s mowing, edging, or transforming a yard with a full-scale cleanup, Callon takes pride in delivering the “wow factor.”

Strength in Supporting Local

For Callon, being part of Bonney Lake’s business community means building each other up. He works alongside and refers business to other local companies, like TLC and Amazing, believing that collaboration creates a stronger, more connected community.

One project that stands out for him was on Snag Island, where his crew delivered and installed 84 yards of beauty bark. The customer’s excitement at the transformation reminded him why he loves what he does.

Coaching the Next Generation

Beyond lawn care, Callon invests his time back into the community as the 8th grade boys basketball coach for BLBA.

“I love using basketball to help teach kids self-confidence, discipline, and positive habits. Bonney Lake is building something special, and I’m proud to be part of shaping the next generation,” he said.

The freedom of being self-employed allows him to not only coach, but also stay active in his church and be present at local events—something he says is one of the most rewarding parts of running his own business.
