The Bonney Lake Panthers boys golf team continued their dominant start to the season with a decisive 194-224 victory over the Graham-Kapowsin Eagles on Tuesday at High Cedars Golf Course. The Panthers, now 4-0, took advantage of the clear skies and stunning backdrop of Mount Rainier, though the wet course conditions from Monday’s storm added an extra challenge. A strong showing from the Panthers’ top golfers ensured another commanding league win.

Sauer once again set the tone for the Panthers, firing a stellar 34 over the front nine, keeping himself in birdie range on nearly every hole. He started strong with a birdie on the opening par-5 and followed it up with another birdie on the fifth hole. A pinpoint approach on the par-3 eighth left him a tap-in birdie, helping him finish two under for the round.

He also birdied the seventh, showing off his accuracy on approach shots. Frey played steady throughout, avoiding trouble and capitalizing on his reliable short game, including a birdie on the par-4 seventh after sticking his approach shot close.

Ekberg carded a 43, overcoming a couple of tough breaks with strong play in the middle stretch of his round. He birdied the par-3 second hole with a smooth iron shot that left him a short putt. Lucash rounded out the lineup with a 41, delivering another solid performance for the Panthers. His highlight came on the par-5 fifth, where his aggressive second shot put him in prime position for an easy birdie.

With four straight victories under their belt, the Panthers have quickly established themselves as a top contender in the SPSL 4A league.
