On a calm, overcast Monday afternoon at High Cedars Golf Course, the Bonney Lake Panthers boys golf team made sure Senior Night was one to remember. Celebrating seniors Kohen Sauer, Hudson Rogel, and Cameron Frey, the Panthers showed exactly why they're in the hunt for the SPSL 4A title, putting together a school-record team score of 186 to defeat the Olympia Bears, who finished with a 206.
Now with only one loss on the season and firmly in second place, Bonney Lake moves into Tuesday’s regular-season finale against undefeated Sumner. With the league title on the line, this showdown is a can’t-miss for Panther fans.
But first, let’s talk about Monday—and what a performance it was.
Pairing One: Kohen Sauer & Hudson Rogel

Senior Kohen Sauer made sure his final home appearance was unforgettable. The reigning All-League talent was lights out, carding a blistering 3-under 33 that included three straight birdies on holes 5, 6, and 7. His tee shot on 6 traveled over 320 yards, leaving him just 40 yards from the pin—an easy up-and-down for birdie. Sauer’s momentum and focus gave the Panthers early command in the match.
Fellow senior Hudson Rogel wasn’t far behind. Rogel strung together a composed, consistent round, finishing with a 37. He was steady through the front nine and started with great momentum, draining a birdie on 1. Rogel’s dependable game has been a major factor all season, and Monday was no different.
Pairing Two: Cameron Frey & Luke Nelson

Senior Cameron Frey brought veteran poise to his final home outing, turning in a 39 that featured seven straight pars. Frey’s calm, collected approach was a stabilizing force in the second group, and it kept the Panthers comfortably ahead.

Junior Luke Nelson added flair to the mix with another stellar 38. He nearly holed out on 4 with a wedge, landing the ball six feet from the pin for a birdie. Then on 7, Nelson drove the green—showing off his power and touch. Nelson continues to be a quiet assassin for this squad, capable of going low and rising to the moment.
Pairing Three: Stephen Lucash & Alexander Ekberg

Sophomore Stephen Lucash fired a solid 39 to round out the team’s scoring. Lucash had a clean card highlighted by consistent ball-striking and solid recovery shots, keeping his score steady on a day where every shot mattered.
Freshman Alexander Ekberg came in with a 43, playing well in spots and showing flashes of the upside that has him firmly in the future plans of this program. Though his score didn’t count toward the team total, Ekberg continues to gain valuable experience in his first varsity season.
The Panthers head into Tuesday’s match against Sumner with everything on the line. The winner takes home the SPSL 4A title. Come out to High Cedars and support your boys—first tee time is at 3:10 p.m.
This team is making history. Let’s help them finish it.
